This is a high-octane, dangerous job only for the fit and hardy. Each year a team of Heli-Loggers work Vancouver Island against time constraints, extreme terrain, extreme weather conditions and grizzly bears.
This summer they will harvest up to 4000 pieces (trunks) of high-grade wood and the only way this can be done is by heli-logging as they work Old-growth forest, which they are committed to keeping as intact as possible, they are working strictly within the sustainable forestry practice guidelines of the Canadian government.
Mistakes could bankrupt the business and cost lives and limbs of the crew. The crew of larger than life characters, all brawn with some brain and lots of skill, live together in a remote, floating barge camp. The landscape is stunningly beautiful, but the living conditions are not.
