Maverick meteorologists Simon Brewer and Juston Drake continue their quest across the US to witness the most powerful storms.
Storm Riders is a raw, behind-the-scenes series following two meteorologists, who run a bare-bones operation – no high-tech equipment and no gadgets – just a cell phone connection and a map – in search for the next big tornado or hurricane. Experience the thrill of storm chasing as Simon and Juston allow viewers to live vicariously through their harrowing experiences in hurricanes and tornadoes.
SIMON BREWER
Simon Brewer is a meteorologist and storm chaser from Norman, Oklahoma and received his degree in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma in 2008. He devotes his life to chasing, reporting and documenting extreme weather phenomena.
Brewer has been chasing storms for more than a decade. He’s witnessed hundreds of tornadoes, eight hurricanes, two tropical storms, dozens of winter storms and thousands of supercells. He documented the widest tornado in history: a 2.5 mile wide monster that struck Hallam, NE. He intercepted the eyes of three major hurricanes, including Hurricane Katrina, one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history.
JUSTON DRAKE
Juston Drake is a meteorologist and storm chaser from Topeka, KS. His interest in weather stems from listening to his mother’s extraordinary stories about her experience with an F5 tornado that destroyed her home. After earning his degree in meteorology, Drake is still fascinated with learning about the atmosphere. Drake has been chasing storms for 7 years. He has witnessed numerous tornadoes, supercells, and hurricanes. His degree in meteorology allows him to enjoy the scientifi c part of chasing by collecting data and documenting the storm. He loves the challenge of forecasting the best areas for severe weather.
Storm chasing is Drake’s life. He spends every day thinking about past and possible future chases, analyzing data, and looking at old storm pictures.
